tracel0g is a series of URL-based works by internet artist d0n.xyz. Each piece centers on a different mode of interaction and a specific cursor. As humans navigating 2D virtual space, the cursor is our only visible embodiment of the self reaching into the otherness of an external website. In a sense the cursor is the self, and the navigable environment of a website is the other. And as we move through these foreign spaces our presence leaves trails and residue of data, silently observed and analyzed. The artworks in tracel0g focus on these trails, the byproducts of our online existence drawing intricate details from afar that we may never fully understand as individual users.
